The Association of Commerce and Industry in conjunction with the New Mexico Association of Counties will be hosting free informational meetings for its members and the public to help educate and answer questions on the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange (NMHIX).

The informational meeting will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013 from 2:30pm – 4:30pm at the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E Picacho Ave. in Las Cruces.

At the meeting industry professionals will review the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange, which will help individual New Mexicans and businesses find health care coverage by comparing companies, premiums and plans and offer subsidies to eligible individuals to help them pay premiums.

The insurance coverage will be available to individuals who enroll on sites like www.thatsinsurance.com during an open enrollment period from Oct. 1, 2013 through March 31, 2014, with coverage starting as soon as Jan. 1, 2014. Health Care Guides, insurance agents and brokers will be available throughout many communities in New Mexico to help individuals with the fast application and to get enrolled. Through SHOP, small businesses will be able to purchase competitively priced health insurance plans after November 1, 2013 and can start shopping on the Exchange October 1, 2013.
