The September High Tech Consortium (HTC) of Southern New Mexico membership meeting will be on Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

This month’s speaker will be Bob Hull, NM BEST Technical Director. Mr. Hull will describe this year’s Boosting Engineering Science and Technology (BEST) competition.

The BEST Robotics competition exposes students to the engineering design process, marketing, teamwork and electromechanical innovation.  The students build a robot to do specific tasks for a particular scenario – that changes each year. Teamwork is a key component to success and each team works on specific aspects of the building process, to include robot design, marketing plans and presentations, documenting their insights and discoveries in an engineering notebook and the robot competition itself.

Since 2001, the College of Engineering at New Mexico State University has hosted the Boosting Engineering Science and Technology (BEST) robotics competition for middle and high school students across New Mexico and west Texas.  This year the competition focuses on issues in Computer Engineering: Gatekeeper 2013.

HTC membership meetings are open to the public and free.  Anyone interested in growing technology in southern New Mexico is encouraged to attend.  For more information call Terry Jack at 575-522-3868.
