The March MVEDA Business in the Borderplex Forum will feature NMSU Professor Dr. Chris Erickson and UTEP Professor Dr. Tom Fullerton. Both of these widely recognized economists are frequent speakers on the economy of the regional markets that make up the Borderplex. Their presentations promise to be enlightening and thought provoking.

This month’s forum will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM at the Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces, 705 S. Telshor. The meeting will begin with a hot entrée buffet followed by a brief update from MVEDA staff.

Advance registration is $25.00 per person, payable by major credit card via the secure portal on the registration form. Payment at the door with cash, check or credit card is $30.00 per person. Reservations are required. Registration closes Friday, March 6, 2015.

About the Speakers
Chris EricksonDr. Christopher A. Erickson is a Senior Economic Analyst at Arrowhead Center. He has been on the faculty of the Department of Economics and International Business at New Mexico State University since 1987. His main research interest is regional and border issues and he is the author or co-author of numerous articles, including articles on the Mexican peso crisis, China’s impact on the Mexican Maquila industry and a supplemental money and banking text that was adopted on over 100 campuses. Chris has written a weekly column on the local economy for the Las Cruces Bulletin since 2008. Dr. Erickson frequently speaks on issues concerning New Mexico, Las Cruces, and the border economy. He currently serves as the editor of the New Mexico Business Outlook.

Tom FullertonDr. Thomas Fullerton is Professor of Economics & Finance at UTEP. He holds the Endowed Trade in the Americas Chair at the UTEP College of Business Administration. Fullerton holds degrees from UTEP, Iowa State University, Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania, and University of Florida. He is the author or co-author of numerous papers, academic journals and books on the economy and socioeconomic conditions of the border metropolitan economy. He is a frequent presenter at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas’ Border Economic Forum.
