POSITION DESCRIPTION:

• Over the Phone Interpreter providing consecutive, first-person interpretation in Spanish / English

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

 • Provides meaning for meaning interpreting; never paraphrases, omits or embellishes

• Follows interpreter protocol as trained by CyraCom Testing & Training Department

• Follows all CyraCom policies related to information confidentiality and interpreter ethics, as trained by CyraCom Testing & Training

• Continuously improve vocabulary and specialized knowledge of subject matter required for various clients. E.g., medical, legal, social services, etc

• Gives proper interpreter greeting, including name of language and ID number

• Makes all necessary efforts to control flow of conversation and content for the benefit of better communications between the parties

• Completes the daily call log for each call received, noting technical problems

• Works to develop improved and more efficient note taking skills that facilitates better interpretation; makes appropriate note taking a skilled habit

• Completes required forms when applicable, and provides the forms to their supervisor for processing

• Reports significant sound and connection problems to supervisor

• Develop or use attention-focusing techniques to improve listening skills

• Perform other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION / TRAINING: High School Diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one-year professional interpreting experience preferred
