The City of Las Cruces will host a presentation by the U.S. Small Business Administration on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) beginning at 5 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20 in Council Chambers at City Hall, 700 N. Main St.

“We wanted to make sure that Las Cruces small business owners had an opportunity to learn more about how the Affordable Care Act impacts them,” said Mayor Ken Miyagishima. “We feel this is an important public service and we’re pleased to be partnering with the Small Business Administration.”

John C. Woosley, district director of the U.S. Small Business Administration for New Mexico, will be presenting. Information will include how small businesses can access ACA to provide affordable health insurance benefits to their employees.

Further, it will detail how the ACA will accomplish that by lowering premium cost growth and increasing employee access to quality, affordable health insurance. Tax credits worth up to 50 percent are available to small business and other topics relating to the implementation of the Affordable Care Act will be discussed.
