“Basic Training to Get Your Foot in the Door”

The Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance (MVEDA) with both Doña Ana Community College (DACC) and the City of Las Cruces are partnering together to host a FREE “Job to Career Readiness Boot Camp”.

“Partnering with MVEDA and the City of Las Cruces we are proud to offer this opportunity to the community and to our students,” said Dr. Renay Scott, DACC President. “This boot camp will help people find employment by being prepared to interview for jobs.”

“El Paso Electric is proud to sponsor and participate in this community event,” said Ricardo Gonzales, Director of External Affairs at El Paso Electric. “We have a great opportunity with these new business partners coming to our region and workforce readiness is paramount to their success.”

Because local employers are seeking to fill up to 1,000 entry level positions in manufacturing, secretarial/clerical, and call centers, this event will focus on bridging the gap between incoming and existing companies and the workforce available within the Doña Ana County community. It will also provide training on landing interviews, demonstrating workplace do’s and don’ts, and highlighting proper workplace etiquette. Upon completion, attendees (age 18 and New Mexico residents) will be able to submit an application to these employers seeking to hire.

To better serve the residents of Doña Ana County, the boot camp will be hosted from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (check in starts at 7:30 a.m.) on the following days and locations:

July 16, 2014 at the DACC East Mesa Campus
July 30, 2014 at the DACC Gadsden Campus
September 17, 2014 at the DACC Sunland Park Campus

All interested must register for one of the three boot camps offered by calling 575-527-7538. Seating will be limited to 100 participants per session.

Lunch will be provided to all registered participants courtesy of El Paso Electric.
