The Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance (MVEDA) has announced a Call for Entries for a video and photography contest entitled “Mi Vida – What I love about my life in the Mesilla Valley.” The contest offers the residents of Doña Ana County the opportunity to describe what Las Cruces and the Mesilla Valley means to them through short videos or photography. Winners in each division will be awarded cash prizes and have their work featured on MVEDA’s social media pages.  First place winners’ submissions will be included in some of MVEDA’s national marketing.

According to Davin Lopez, MVEDA CEO, the contest “is an opportunity for area residents to be directly involved in economic development by documenting through video or photography why the Mesilla Valley is such a great place to live and work. This community-based approach will help strengthen our marketing efforts to a national audience through our on-line presence.”

The contest is part of MVEDA’s community outreach efforts under the guidance of the MVEDA Branding and Awareness Committee, co-chaired by Terriane Everhart and Tara Rothwell-Clark. “The Mi Vida competition will get a pulse on what people really like about the Mesilla Valley,” Rothwell-Clark said. “It will also generate content for future marketing efforts – and it will generate excitement.”

Submissions will be accepted through May 1, 2014. Judging by a panel of local marketing professionals will take place from May 2-15, 2014.  Winners will be announced on or about May 19, 2014.

Complete contest rules and submission instructions can be found on the MVEDA contest page (www.mveda.com/contest/) and updates will be available on MVEDA’s Facebook page.
