Several nationally recognized speakers will address current economic development trends during the MVEDA Regional Economic Development Forum on Friday, June 7, 2013, 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces.

Issues critical to site selection decision making will be explored ranging from incentives and financing to tax policy and workforce readiness.  Featured presenters include:

Evan RiceEvan Rice is General Counsel for Hickey & Associates LLC. Hickey & Associates is a preeminent international site selection, public incentives, and economic development consulting firm based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with offices worldwide. Mr. Rice is a former Fulbright Scholar and Peace Corps Volunteer. He earned his J.D. from the Duke University School of Law, where he was the Managing Editor of the Duke Journal of International & Comparative Law.  His topic is “Tools and Trends in Contemporary Economic Development:  Creative Finance Mechanisms and Cutting-Edge Incentives.               

Richard AnklamRichard Anklam is the President and Executive Director of the New Mexico Tax Research Institute. The New Mexico Tax Research Institute is a member-supported non-profit organization dedicated to tax policy education in New Mexico.  He has well over 20 years of state and local tax experience, having led two state and local tax practices for two international accounting and consulting firms, Grant Thornton LLP, and KPMG LLP. His topic is “Tax Structures:  Are We Giving the Middle Finger to Businesses?”                       

Branka MinicBranka Minic is a Senior Consultant for Future Work Consortium. Branka spent 17 years with ManpowerGroup, the world leading organization in innovative workforce solutions.  Most recently, Branka was ManpowerGroup’s Senior Director of Global Corporate & Government Affairs. She is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences as an expert on workforce development, corporate social responsibility, and public-private partnerships.  Her topic is “Workforce Competitiveness in a Global War for Jobs.”
