Speaking before a packed audience at Tuesday’s MVEDA Business in the Borderplex luncheon, New Mexico Partnership CEO Steve Vierck highlighted the recent expansions in Santa Teresa and the Union Pacific intermodal facility as the “hottest things” in New Mexico.

Vierck’s presentation pointed to the many advantages New Mexico has to offer to expanding industries as well as some of the perceived disadvantages.  Vierck was very complimentary of New Mexico State University and Doña Ana Community College for their support of economic and workforce development, noting that both were more proactive than other systems in the state.

Vierck was president and CEO of MVEDA from 2002 to 2008. He complimented the business community and the MVEDA organization, calling MVEDA one of the best economic development groups in the country for a small metro area.

According to Davin Lopez, MVEDA president and CEO, “Steve’s presentation shed light on the fact that southern New Mexico and especially Doña Ana County is the shining economic development light in the State.  Of course Steve was a huge part of designing a sustainable MVEDA model which has allowed us to remain successful during very difficult years.  And it is positive to see that he is developing a similar successful organization that benefits all of New Mexico.”

Vierck’s presentation is available on the MVEDA website “Presentations” page.
