The July meeting of the MVEDA Business in the Borderplex Forum will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM at the Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces, 705 S. Telshor. Dr. Beverlee J. McClure, President/CEO of the Association of Commerce & Industry of New Mexico (ACI) will be the featured speaker. The meeting will begin with a hot entrée buffet and a brief update by MVEDA staff.

ACI serves as the state chamber of commerce and the NM representative of the National Association of Manufacturers. Their mission is to enrich the lives and prosperity of New Mexicans through a vibrant business climate built by effective advocacy and education.

ACI provides opportunities for businesses to access and become involved with the political process. ACI members are eligible and encouraged to participate in ACI’s committees and issues roundtables to help develop ACI’s annual legislative priorities.

ACI publishes its member-driven priorities each year in the ACI Legislative Agenda. ACI’s legislative positions are distributed to the New Mexico Legislature before each legislative session.

ACI members are kept informed on state legislative activity affecting business in several ways. During the legislative session: member alerts are sent out via email; weekly conference calls are offered for members to interact directly with the ACI President to discuss current legislation; and ACI’s weblog is updated daily with the latest legislative news on business issues. ACI also keeps members up-to-date on other business activities throughout the state via publication of the quarterly ACI Business Voice newsletter.

ACI is a strong advocate for pro-business policies at the state legislature and year-round. Through ACI’s policy committees, members set policy agendas on key issues, so that you have a direct voice in Santa Fe on the legislation and decisions that affect New Mexico business.
