MVEDA, in partnership with the Border Industrial Association (BIA), recently responded to a national RFP from Brightmark Energy. Brightmark Energy has requested 30 to 100 acres of land for their next facility that has strong access to rail and highways. In the joint response, MVEDA and the BIA felt that the Santa Teresa Rail Park was the best option for Brightmark Energy to consider in the Southwest United States. MVEDA and the BIA created a new website response to entice Brightmark Energy to invest its next $500 million to $1 billion in New Mexico.

For the past 15 years, Brightmark Energy has been developing their technology that converts comingled plastic waste (types 1-7) into various energy products. Their goal is to establish several facilities around the United States that can serve as collection points for the plastic waste which are also in close proximity to the users of their process outputs. With the previous work performed on the Amazon HQ2 proposal, there is a strong demonstration of the value that Santa Teresa and the Los Santos region provides.
In many reports, the US ships its plastic waste products to Asian markets via West Coast ports. The second largest market for US plastic is Mexico. Identifying the logistic advantages that Santa Teresa has linking it to both of these markets and the close proximity to potential customers make a strong case for the New Mexico Borderplex.
